Asilomar is a
tranquil ocean front retreat near the rocky shoreline of
California's famed Monterey Peninsula. The center is tucked
among107 acres of windswept dunes and forests of Monterey
pines, oak and cypress. Follow an easy walking path and
cross the street to a pristine white sand beach. It’s a
stunning and natural environment.
Designed by acclaimed
architect Julia Morgan and embracing the Arts & Crafts
architectural style, the buildings at Asilomar harmonize
with its spectacular setting. Created in 1913 as a YWCA
retreat, the beautiful grounds and historic buildings are
now a California State Park and well known conference
center.
Asilomar
has a heated outdoor swimming pool, sand volleyball court,
pool tables and a ping-pong table available for guests.
There are also self-guided tour booklets available at the
front desk or you can call the California State Park Rangers
Office at 831-646-6443 to arrange a guided tour of the
historical buildings, dunes or tide pools.
The charges for room and
board at Asilomar depend on the size and type of
room. Some historic rooms are small and rustic.
Please note that fees include
three meals per day.
You may view the standard and
historic room choices on the Asilomar Conference Grounds
